Aon & Willis Subpoenaed as Part of Insurance Fraud Investigation

Return to Connecticut Insurance Broker Fraud news on SSEM.COM

As revealed in their latest quarterly filing, Aon was subpoenaed on October 25, 2004 by the Connecticut attorney General. They are seeking documents relating to whether Aon had engaged in bid-rigging or solicitation of insurance quotes.

In addition to Connecticut, other state departments of insurance have made similar requests. Those states include California, Massachusetts, Florida and Ohio.

On November 9, 2004, Willis also announced that they had received similar subpoenas and were cooperating in several state investigations also. Willis did not list any of the states with which it was actively involved.

These investigations come after a similar investigation by New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer into bid-rigging and fraudulent solicitation of insurance quotes.
